Burress papers include primarily military correspondence, much of it non-official, to and from Burress, 1942-1954; also includes a capsule biography, his speeches, social invitations, and clippings and photographs concerning him or his troops, especially the 100th Division and the First Army. Items on WWII are numerous, concerning both the 100th's training at Forts Jackson and Bragg and also its combat service, especially at the Battles of Bitche and Heilbronn. Maps of its operations and a 100-page official history of the Battle of Heilbronn are included.
